Lena & Kyle Married at The Saskatoon Berry Farms in Okotokes

October 30, 2014

Its 100% official I love Saskatoon Berry Farms more now than I have ever loved any garden centre in my life before. BTW I have been to a lot of garden centres and I kind of have a thing for them!

I have always had the pleasure of shooting at Saskatoon farms whether it be engagement sessions, first looks, or family formals but this year was my very first time ever shooting a wedding ceremony and reception there.

Let me explain to you how amazing it was.

After pulling up to the farm all you can hear is little kids laughing and the wind blowing through the berry trees.

You see all of the trees and bright coloured buildings as you walk through the main area.

I went up to the Brides suite where I waited for Lena and all of her family to arrive. The Farm has a deck that overlooks the main street that goes through the farm. I sat there and took in the heat as I anticipated the girls arrival.

I thought about how amazing this day was going to be for them. The emotions their friends and family were about to be witness to. Once Lena arrived we got right down to it. Moving furniture around to make the perfect set for her wedding dress shots. Her amazing Bridesman even stood on a table to hook her dress up for me. He was fantastic!

Saskatoon farms is so amazing for all the little details they have. The family who owns it spared no expense or care in creating a dream.

As Kyle’s Dad walked down the aisle towards me he grinned as he was about to perform the marriage of his son to a wonderful person. I dont know anything sweeter than having your parent officiate such a special commitment in you’re life.

Through the emotions and promises of love and care to one another Lena & Kyle expressed more than words can say with the way they looked at one another. Her eyes welled up and his did too. Marrying you’re best friend is the most wonderful thing that could happen.

After the ceremony we captured photos of family that traveled far and wide to share their love and support for them. Than we walked around the farm snapping some of my most loved images i’ve ever taken at the farm.

We ended up shooting in the most random spot on the Farm – we found hoodoos! Than we headed back for their grand entrance.

I love love love Russian traditions. Lena and Kyle did an authentic bread ceremony when they walked in. This consists of the bride and groom biting bread, and who ever has the biggest piece will be the head of the family. I believe Lena won …

The reception flowed through the night with lots of emotional moments and laughter followed by one of the best and I mean the best dance parties / DJ music I’ve ever heard.

One of the funniest moment for me was when I took down the photo booth that I had set up on the patio earlier that night. Not thinking and completely oblivious to the fact there was millions of bugs out at the farm … my lighting was a force to be reckoned with. All the bugs flew into the light and piled up in the bottom. Slightly gruesome I know. But still very random!
