Buffalo Mountain Lodge Kananaskis Wedding

Victoria & Adam – Buffalo Mountain Lodge Kananaskis Wedding

This Buffalo Mountain Lodge Kananaskis Wedding was a winter dream!

Who thinks it’s going to snow on their wedding day at the beginning of October?

Well not me, that’s for sure! As I made my way up Highway 1 to Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff, AB, I noticed the fog hanging low on the mountains and the sky seemed very gloomy for October – but that can sometimes last only a few mins in Banff, where the weather is known to change in the blink of an eye. The winds there are real and blow dreary skies through pretty fast.

Tunnel Mountain Reservoir Ceremony turned indoor!

The plan was an outdoor ceremony at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir, and it seemed as though this may not be happening with the dismal weather overhead. But by the time this couple’s first look shots were complete, the skies had lightened up. It looked like the ceremony could still take place outside, with the help of a few umbrellas. Yes! But while we were off at Lake Minnewanka with formals just about complete, the skies decided to open up, raindrops started coming down, and before we knew it the rain had turned into a snowstorm. The wedding was quickly switched to inside the Wapiti Room at the Lodge. During the ceremony, the snow was coming down in blankets. The decision to move it indoors was a really good call or we would have had some pretty cold newlyweds.

Smiles, Tears, and Giggles!

Emotions in the Wapiti Room were nothing but raw during this couple’s magic nuptials. The beauty of the smiles, tears, and giggles that turned into laughter came from deep within the hearts of every guest so happy for the lovely couple.

Victoria is an amazing woman who has one of the biggest smiles, which is always accompanied by a laugh; Adam is meticulous and I’m willing to bet his cheeks often hurt from smiling so much when he gazes at Victoria. Their love is astronomical. The day, although cold and crazy weather-wise, was nothing but a delight to be a part of.

After the most perfect day

Driving back to Calgary, AB, at the end of the night, in the pitch-black darkness and with heavy fog lingering on the highway, I thought to myself how special these humans and their families were. Victoria‘s dad even wrote a song about Adam and sang it during his speech! Everyone gave him a standing ovation. If you could have heard it yourself, trust me you wouldn’t believe your ears. All in all, this was one for the books! Congrats!

Their top 3 best moments:

1. Our vows were truly one of our favourite moments. We wrote our vows independently and we mirrored each other on a couple lines. Many people commented on how amazing our vows were, and we felt very connected for that day because of our vows!

2. Our first look together was a very special and amazing moment to have together!! I was a nervous wreck during the morning, couldn’t settle down, and kept pacing around the room. As soon as I saw Adam I was calm, and confident, and so ready for the day ahead!!

3. Adam and I took a moment to ourselves right after the ceremony, and we couldn’t be happier to take that moment together. We didn’t want to do a receiving line, and we snuck into a room right after the ceremony. It was so special to take that time right after our ceremony and after reading our vows to each other. We both know we will look back on that moment for the rest of our lives.

Wedding Song:

Wedding song was “Once in a Lifetime Love” by Keith Urban.

We heard this song in the first few months that we started dating, and the song has just stuck with us ever since. It keeps popping up on the radio quite frequently when we are in the car together. You could truly say the song picked us!! We also really like that song, because it talks about your life together after your wedding. You wedding is just one day, but marriage is a lifetime, and that is why we decided to marry each other!
