Calgary Boudoir – remember how beautiful you are
I often feel that embracing the skin you’re in is one of the most important parts of being an individual.
Like my beautiful, smart, unique client below I feel it’s incredibly important to emphasize the beauty you already have instead of living through a looking glass and wanting to be someone else.
I am sure a lot of women out there often feel unsexy looking at magazine covers of photoshopped models and celebrities. We sometimes get used to seeing our everyday, unglamorous selves and never take a moment to appreciate how wonderful we really are. I love using Boudoir photography as a tool to make all the ladies out there of every different size and shape feel like a million bucks.
Shopping for the perfect outfit and planning how you want your hair and make-up to look the day of your shoot is massively exciting. I remember when I did my own boudoir session and I started perusing the different stores in Chinook Centre here in Calgary looking for the cutest outfits. Once I found what I was looking for, I moved on to finding adorable but sexy looking shoes to accompany it. It was taking those small moments, that little bit of “me time,” to do something caring for myself that I really learned to remember what a special person I am, inside and out – and so are you!
Like many of my clients, I had that nervous but excited feeling pre-shoot, until the day of my session came. I remember while getting my hair and make-up done that my hands were a little sweaty but I was more excited than anything.
My favourite thing about shooting boudoir is how much fun it really is. Since the poses can feel a little silly (even though I know we all practice the “come hither” look in the mirror from time to time), there are always a lot of laughs during the session – but as you can see, the results are anything but laughable. They are sexy, timeless, cute, classy… and ok a little bit giggly too!
I am going to take some extra time this year to really share why I love boudoir and try to explain a little more on why I pride myself on being a woman who empowers other women. Not many people get the opportunity to really make a difference in someone’s life and I have such a privilege with all my clients that I get to make them not only feel stunning but strong, accepted, and free. So why not share that!
I also have some very exciting news that I will be sharing in the coming months about two projects I’m working on. Being an entrepreneur, I often work long hours and always have my clients on my mind. I sometimes forget that I first got into photography for the love of the image and have to remind myself to take some time and shoot for myself as well! This year I have big news for the Boudoir studio as well as a project I’m undertaking with a good friend of mine. As soon as I can, I will be sharing – and I can’t wait to feel the love and support from everyone around me and to share it with everyone online!
