Calgary Engagement Photography – Erika & Alex

February 2, 2016

Airplane graveyard and Barn Engagement Photos.

These locations were a wicked find on a scouting journey for Erika & Alex’s Calgary engagement photography session.
Alex took aviation and Erika loves vintage/rustic so between the two locations we had a recipe for success.

We started off shooting in an old cattle barn just off the highway – the couple giggled and snuggled under a battered roof before moving to our second location.

As we walked up to our vehicles, Alex realized his keys weren’t in his pocket. Just then he realized he had locked them in the truck.

I love that this wasn’t the first time Alex got his keys locked in his truck, so luckily he knew just how to get them out. I also enjoyed the fact that he used an old ski to jimmy his door open!

Between me laughing my ass off and Erika’s giggles I’m surprised Alex was able to keep his composure long enough to open the door and not break the glass!

After a successful re-entry into his truck, we drove over to what I like to call an airplane graveyard. I’m sure it’s just a pick-a-part style lot for people who want to fix up their own aircrafts, but doesn’t graveyard sound better?

We started off shooting in a yard that was close to where Alex took aviation school.

Climbing up the planes was definitely difficult but 100% worth it. I had Erika sit on Alex’s lap for some romantic snuggling shots – because what else would you do in an old random airplane?

Also, who knew what an airplane looked like without the seats and cozy walls inside of it? Well now you do! It looks magical and industrial all in one.

We finished the shoot off with some silhouette shots between a few airplanes just after the sunset.
