Jessie & Phil – Elegant Fort Calgary Design Wedding

Jessie & Phil – Elegant Fort Calgary Design Wedding.

To say Calgary has had one of the rainiest wedding seasons ever this year would be an understatement. Jessie & Phil, being the go-with-the-flow people they are, didn’t let the wet weather spoil their fun. They happily pulled out some last minute clear umbrellas and braved the showers like champs. (I believe this is 10 years amazing luck for these two, right?).

The day started with us meeting for their first look in Calgary’s Inglewood, one of my most favourite spots in the city. Phil was standing amongst the tall trees as Jessie slowly walked towards him. She tapped him on the shoulder and he turned into the moments that were going to change their lives forever. After one of the most beautiful first looks I have ever shot (literally guys, I cried, and I think Lyndsay might have also cried?), we then strolled into the deep grass. Making our way down the rocky paths, we arrived at one of my favourite heritage houses – just as a massive rain storm blew in. We ran out towards the lake for a few umbrella shots, and as the weather cleared up Phil stood holding Jessie, rubbing her arms until she warmed up.

The day wasn’t about the perfect weather or the timing of everything, it was about the love. As Jessie walked down the aisle, I thought to myself what Phil might be thinking right now… They were about to tell each other what they loved and promised for one another.

The ceremony was beautiful, the backdrop was amazing – in my opinion, their day couldn’t have been any better.

I took a few moments to check out and photograph the transformation Rachel and her team from Hera Weddings & Events did to the officers’ mess  in Fort Calgary and I was blown away by the subdued pallette and stunning natural greens Rhosyn Florals created for them. I should have had a hunch when I photographed Jessie‘s bouquet earlier in the day.

As everyone moved upstairs from the main floor where the ceremony was held, I anticipated the bride and groom’s entry. Shooting the newlyweds’ friends and family’s reactions to them entering the reception, the stories they told, and the laughs they shared made this day one to remember.

I was so pleased to be part of their elegant rainy wedding and wouldn’t have traded it for the world!
