Outdoor Wedding in Banff, AB with Panoramic Mountain Views.

Rustic outdoor Wedding in Banff, AB with scenic Mountain views.

One thing I absolutely loved about photographing this outdoor Wedding in Banff at Buffalo Mountain Lodge is their location site for outdoor ceremonies it’s located right across the street at Tunnel Mountain Reservoir. This location not only offers the most epic panoramic mountain views but also provides easy access for your guests staying at the resort.

Moreover, there are so many amazing spots for outdoor Wedding and Elopement Ceremonies in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, but this has to be one of my favourites.

Jaw dropping views

Tunnel Mountain Reservoir stands as a jaw dropping backdrop for exchanging vows. If you time your ceremony just right, the majestic peaks will be hit by the harsh light of the evening, creating a breathtaking view.

Alternatively, if you choose to have a morning Ceremony, you will get the soft light of the morning cascading and illuminating the mountain range.

It will give off a romantic vibe to the start of your Wedding Day.

One of the perks of choosing Buffalo Mountain Lodge for your outdoor Wedding in Banff is the convenience it offers.

With everything from getting ready to amazing photo locations and your Ceremony and Reception being all within walking distance, your day can flow easily and smoothly.

Destination Wedding in Banff

These cuties came all the way from Minnesota for their Wedding Day. Their day was one of the most chill shindigs I have had the pleasure of photographing at BML.

Their Day started with Mike prepping with his Best Man; Courtney, a few doors down with her Mom and closest friends.

Once they were ready it was time to head off to a private first look!

They met out front of the Lodge for a loving first look, and then we were off to photograph their connection adventure Wedding photos.

We did it all! The weather was on our side and gave us a multitude of different lighting scenarios to play with. From the harsh light hitting the lake to the dreamy light peeking through the forest their connection was full of romance, adventure, love and fun!

Big thanks to Courtneys brother for driving us around so we could maximize photo time. Therefore we were able to stop at a few off the beaten track spots we normally couldn’t access if we needed to park!

Ceremony time

Following their photos, we went back to the Reservoir for their Ceremony. Emotional, sweet and simple, their Ceremony started with a shot and ended with a kiss.

Before joining everyone for cocktail hour, we headed off to take some photos with their immediate family.

Following that, we captured some key shots with their Wedding Party before the Reception started.

I love that Mike and Courtney planned their day without including traditional aspects that didn’t serve them as priority. They planned their day to reflect how easy going they are and include only what was important to them.

Hot tip

From the cute newlyweds!

Wedding theme and colours: We love the mountains and the colors that you think of when you think of mountains so blues and greens/sage was a no brainer. We also love flowers and wanted some contrast colors so that is why we did the tie/bow ties for the guys

Approximate number of guests: 48

Vibe: outdoorsy/whimsical. We both love Lord of the Rings so for the ceremony we were going for a very simple, mountainous vibe.

Top 3 best moments: My man of honor (lil bro Alex) working my dress for the pictures – absolutely amazing, my first look with him – that was so special. I didn’t know we were doing that and I am so happy we captured that. My dads speech – I had no idea what to expect and he was amazing.

Wedding song: Simply the best – theme of our wedding website. I love Schitts Creek and I love that song. Hits all the feels

If you could own any animal as a pet what would it be and why: An Elephant because they are AMAZING!! Big reason why we are going to Thailand for the honeymoon 🙂 They are loyal and kind. Family comes first for them.

Kind words: We absolutely loved working with you (Sarah). Everyone was already saying we are going to have the most epic wedding photos and they don’t even know where we went for them. Mike and I had so much fun with you and I am so excited to follow you on your adventures!!
