Jackie & Mark – Azuridge Estate Wedding Photography

I can’t even decide where to begin. From the first time I met Jackie and Mark, I knew their spunky nature was going to be amazing to document at their Azuridge Estate Wedding.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jackie years ago at her sister’s wedding, as well as her bridesmaid’s wedding.

Little did I know, years later I would get to shoot her adorbs nuptials to Mark.

At their engagement session in Calgary, we strolled around Mission shooting in trees, back alleys, and on 4th. It was then that it really sunk in for me that their wedding was going to be unreal.

Driving into the estate that morning was like seeing the Disney castle for the first time, glitter and all. The grandiose nature of the estate is something you never get used to – it’s always such a stunner.

After being greeted by the nicest butler ever (Jimmy), I followed the girls to the bridal suite and started shooting her amazing Stella York wedding dress from the Bridal Boutique.

Being set in the middle of nature is breathtaking, calming, and all the right kinds of romantic.

As the girls filed into the suite, Jackie took a moment to open a gift from Mark before she changed out of her traditional Chinese Ceremony attire. He made her the cutest walk down memory lane album full of photos and sweet notes. Her eyes filled with joy and tears rolled hard down her cheeks. Then she opened a little box Mark had gotten her with the most gorgeous earrings inside. She quickly swapped her wedding earrings for the ones he so preciously picked out for her.

The girls, being their spunky selves, stood by watching as Jackie slipped into her dress. She was seriously such a stunning bride on her wedding day. Not being able to bend over, Charmaine helped her slip on her Jimmy Choos.

What came next was one of those memories you hold deep in your heart: she gave her friends beautiful thank you gifts for standing with her that day. Their faces made me so mushy. It was so sweet.

Before we knew it, it was time to head down to their first look. As Jackie walked through the grounds and down the stairs, Mark turned to see his beautiful bride. Mark definitely had all the feels. I can’t blame him – she seriously was just so stunning in her dress. They kissed, he spun her around, and they embraced. As we walked down the road to head to their formals before the ceremony, everyone who had sneakily been watching from afar started to cheer. It was so sweet, I just can’t even.

Jimmy, the worlds greatest butler, helped Jackie with her train as they walked through the woods for some private moments together.

The best part was right at the beginning when a bee flew down Jackie’s dress! Mark heroically helped her in literally the funniest way. He is such a gentleman! After a little deep breathing about almost being stung in the boob by a bee, we continued on.

We ended up at a beautiful creek I secretly had found on a scouting trip the year before and knew this would be just the right day to shoot it. Mark grabbed Jackie and effortlessly threw her over his shoulder to help her get down on the rocks. The two smooched and snuggled and goofed around.

Then it was time to meet the wedding party back at the estate.

After some sweet shots with the guys and girls we headed to the ceremony.

Halfway through the ceremony the clouds rolled in, covering the sky in a perfect glowing blanket of light. It was magical and so full of emotion.

The reception was full of emotional stories and well wishes. Hugs and tears were shed by so many. The evening had a traditional Dragon Dancers that was absolutely amazing to see against the evening sky. After dinner, everyone went to the main room to watch a slideshow, followed by their first dance. It was super emotional to watch their father-daughter and son-mother dances. Those amazing moments were such a pleasure to capture before the evening was capped off with a full blown dance party.

We quickly snuck away to grab some night shots on the property, even though it had stated to rain. They didn’t mind the light sprinkle because every moment is a memory that I hope stays with them for all the years to come.

Thank you Jackie & Mark for being you and allowing me to capture such an amazing love story. You’re both so freaking amazing.

From the Bride and Groom:

What were your wedding colours: Navy Blue, Gray and Gold

What Vibe were you going for: Elegant, Romantic, Fun

Your top 3 best moments:

  • Vows: each of us wrote our own vows that encapsulated the amazing journey we had been on together over the past couple of years. For that moment during the wedding it was just the two of us standing there and everything seems to stop as we spoke to each other
  • Tea Ceremony: this was an opportunity for us to say a special thanks to everyone, including our parents, for their patience in helping to bring us both up. Jackie parents did an amazing job pulling together the ceremony in the morning and was a great start to the day – including the hilarious games that all the groomsmen played to gain access to the house
  • Seeing Jackie in both her wedding dress and Chinese dress in the morning. She looked absolutely stunning and I could not hold back the tears at this point, as I knew that I was 100% ready to spend the rest of my life with his amazing girl.
    • Picking my super sexy bride up in the new Tesla Model X

Wedding song:

Photograph by Ed Sheeran: First dance we shared, lyrics talk about artist being away and coming home and resonated with us since Mark lived in San Fran for about a year and a half away fromJackie. Also, talks about a kiss on 6th street, Jackie and Mark moved into together when he moved back to Canada and they lived in an apartment on 6a street (close enough!)
