Meghan & Steven – Elegant and Classy Calgary Petroleum Club Wedding
From the first moment I met this couple, I was super pumped to be a part of their day at the swanky, downtown Petroleum Club in Calgary.
I can’t believe how much my heart melted when they exchanged their vows. Something about Meghan’s sincerity when she talked about her love for Steven makes me warm and fuzzy inside. I am always a massive sucker when tears are shed, and let me tell you, the day was full of those moments.
After I met up with the girls at Honey Salon, we headed to the Palliser for a few detail shots, and Meghan gave her bridesmaids gifts of love. From that moment on, I don’t think the happy tears stopped.
One of my favourite things to do in the morning is ask the bride’s mom to give her daughter words of advice for the day. Meghan’s mom’s reaction was a real tearjerker. The friendship between mother and daughter is something truly beautiful and special.
After a re-routed aventure to Devonian Gardens due to a big cement truck blocking us, we headed to the ceremony via freight elevator. There was nothing but giggles as Meghan walked down a construction zone to find her dad waiting for her to see his girl on her wedding day.
After the ceremony, we hopped into the limo and drove around downtown Calgary, stopping at some of the city’s most beautiful, old architectural spots for photos. I loved how Meghan’s classic style complimented Steven’s posh suit. The pair were what photo creativity dreams are made of. Add a beautifully dressed couple and stylish wedding party, plus all of the excitement and love of the day, and you really get my creative juices flowing.
I could have shot them all day but before we knew it we had to head over to the Petroleum Club for the big grand entrance. As the wine flowed, the couple was toasted upon entry and the love oozed all night, through the sweetest speeches and fun dances.
I had two favourite parts about their reception. The first was when Meghan’s grandpa sang to her. I literally have no words for his sweetness. It was actually an honour to be able to witness something so beautiful. Weddings are definitely about the couple joining together, but they are also about the well wishes from everyone who is there to join in your day of love. I personally haven’t heard a speech in many years from a grandparent that was something so special. It brought the room to tears. My next favourite moment of the night was when Steven and his grandma had a dance together. She is such a lovely person and her eyes literally lit up the whole room when she looked at Steven during their dance.
I am so humbled to be able to share such a wonderful day on my blog. Hope everyone loves the photos as much as I loved taking them.
