My bags were packed and the car was loaded. As I drove through the mountains a feeling of excitement started to build. I was on my way to shoot Cristina & Adam’s mountain top wedding ceremony in Canmore.

To my delight the girls looked amazing when I arrived at Cristina’s condo rental. I dove right in and shared everyones excitement for the day. Once Cristina was done getting ready we wondered around the rental property and did a few bridal portraits before we met up with everyone to head to the Ceremony.

Silvertip Mountain Resort in Canmore is one of the prettiest places you can have a wedding. The mountain and valley views plus romantic feel of the gazebo is nothing but simply dream like. The guys hid in the trees as the girls waited in the limo for guests to find their seats.

The music started and the Groomsmen walked down the aisle. As the girls lined up at the front the music changed and slowly Cristina and her Dad appeared. Adams eyes welled up as she walked closer.

The ceremony was unique in the sense that there was truly a lot of laughter and soft moments. The sun peaked out mid ceremony giving the sky the punch it needed to add to the romance of the day.

Following the ceremony we took a few minutes to shoot portraits of the two while waiting for family to be shuttled from the Ceremony hill to the reception location.

After a few family portraits we headed to Grassi Lakes for Wedding Party formals and photos of Cristina and Adam. I always know photography is one of the most important things to my Brides and Grooms when they want to climb up a mountain for photos. I have to say it was well worth it, the uphill walk and the bear sighting we had been warned about.

One of the most memorable moments was when a group of kids started humming and yelling the Wedding March song as Cristina and Adam got closer and their hands joined and an arm bridge was created for the couple to walk under. It was possibly one of the cutest things I have seen in a long time.

One little girl noted to her Dad to snap a photo of Cristina because she was a Princess.

Our timing was perfect, as the clouds darkened and the haze rolled in we headed down the mountain. Once we got to the car the rain started so we swiftly got inside and headed to the reception.

I love the fact they entered the reception through the patio doors. The night rolled on with heartfelt stories, toasts & speeches. Once it was time for C+A’s first dance everyone crowded around to watch. Her head found his shoulder and the two swayed along to the music.

It was basically what ever girl dreams of. It had everything a wedding should but the touches they added made it uniquely theirs. A hand made blanket with photos printed on fabric and their names stitched onto the corner. The Photo Booth had so many people in it I was truly glad they added it to their coverage as so many of the guests told me what a blast they were having.

I’m truly happy that they had me there to share in their day.

From the bride:
Colours: Adam and I chose to keep our colours simple and muted. For the bridesmaid’s dresses, the girls designed their own style and chose their colours. Their dresses ranged anywhere from nude to muted peach. The rest of the wedding followed suit, as we stuck to this colour scheme for decorations and florals.

What theme & feel they wanted: As our ceremony and reception were held in the mountains, Adam and I wanted the feel of our wedding to reflect the venue. We aimed for a rustic, classy vibe, with touches of burlap, cream florals, wood slices and lanterns to decorate.

Their top 3 best moments from the day:
1. Father-daughter dress reveal. This moment was so special to me. I wasn’t sure that I was even going to do it, but I am so glad that I did. My dad waited in the hallway while my sister fluffed up my dress. When my dad walked in, there were a ton of tears and we had the most special moment together.
2. Walking down the isle. I was so stressed and nervous leading up to the wedding, but the moment I stepped out of the limo and began walking down the isle with my dad, my stress and nerves dissipated. I saw Adam tearing up at the end of the isle and all I could think was “oh my god! This is happening! I’m about to get married!”
3. Our first dance. Adam and I were engaged for 2 years, so there was a lot of time for me to think about the wedding. The first dance was the thing I thought about the most; what song would we dance to, would we slow dance or break out into a full-on jive. On our wedding day, when we started dancing, it felt like it was just the two of us there, like no one else was watching us. It was perfect.

Wedding song, explain choice for song: Is This Love – Bob Marley. It is definitely not a classic first dance song. However, Adam and I were both raised listening to and loving Bob Marley’s music. The day after Adam proposed, we were driving home from BC and were listening to Bob Marley’s “Legend” CD. “Is This Love” played and I knew that had to be it.
