Sara and Jerin – Elopement at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

April 2, 2019

Simple and stunning winter elopement in the mountains.

The thought of a Winter wedding is just so magical and for Sara and Jerin an elopement at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge was exactly that!

On the drive from Calgary to Jasper I hit up Highway 93 (seriously the most scenic drive in Alberta). Its my second time doing it for a wedding at JPL. The winding roads, the rock/ice climbers on the side of the highway, the mountain views and then bam you hit the Ice Fields. Nothing is more spectacular than the views when driving up the side of a mountain and hitting nearly the top before descending down in your car. Its breathtaking.

After checking into my Hotel I hit up the hot tub to warm up as it was -35 outside. I crossed my fingers for the next day to be warmer but mother nature had a different plan. The day was forecast to be -31 with a windchill – luckily Sara and Jerin had decided to have their ceremony in the Orso Room in the Fairmont. Its a beautiful room with a nice big window that looks out at the frozen lake and mountain range.

Sweet, simple and just perfect!

Their ceremony was sweet, simple and just perfect. I love how Jasper Park Lodge is now offering elopement packages for couples who want to elope to the mountains.

Following the ceremony we did a few family photos before heading off to Maligne Canyon. The canyon was super icy and slipper – luckily Sara was wearing pants and boots under her dress. Jerin had dress shoes on and I am still feeling bad for his toes! Especially while editing their gorgeous elopement. There is nothing I hate more than cold feet so I sympathize with his feet (insert big smile here).

Before we knew it they were heading off to a dinner in town with their family and I was heading back to my hotel to grab my Mom (who graciously came along for the journey with me) and we hit up a restaurant and had the best roast beef dinner I think I have ever had at a restaurant! If you’re in Jasper you seriously need to go to The Inn Grill on their prime rib dinner night – the place was packed and had no wait list because it was that pre booked (luckily for us they sat us at the bar!).

Congratulations Sara and Jerin! It was so much fun hiking the canyon and photographing your day-o-love! I hope your feet and bods are nice and recovered from the cold temps!
