Stewart Creek Wedding – Sarah Pukin

Marian & Philip’s stunning Stewart Creek Wedding was something out of a movie.

The Rocky Mountains were bold and simply perfect as a backdrop for their Mountain Wedding in Canmore.

In the morning I threw on my throwback jams to 00′ and sang all the way to the mountains. As I rolled up to The Malcolm Hotel I was super jazzed to see all the new additions – I was met by Phil’s Mom in the guys room – eagerly awaiting my arrival she showed me all of Phil’s and the Grooms Mens handkerchiefs she had custom made for them.

Phil is a super chill dude. He has one of those smooth vibes so I was pumped to see his suit was tailored to his vibe – as his dad helped him with his tie I was doing a big yay in my head because the light was perfect and created an edgy manly men vibe behind them. His Grooms Men were off to the side getting ready and poking fun at one another as guys do. It was such a wicked morning and before I knew it I had to head off to meet the girls for Marian’s prep!

The girls prep was a morning of creative thinking – we took a sheet and placed it on the floor of the deck so that Marian’s dress didn’t get dirty and I really love the look of it – also she was so kind to let me cut a few flowers from an extra arrangement they had in their room – possibly my favorite shoe shot I took all year! (Check my Instagram stories for how I took two pillow cases, her shoes and a bunch of flowers to create the detail shot below).

her Moms eyes filled with tears and me being the emotional babe I am I had to choke back the tears also”

As she stepped into her dress her Moms eyes filled with tears and me being the emotional babe I am I had to choke back the tears also. Luckily Marian has the most infectious laugh and after a few Moments when it hit her she burst out laughing and those little tears that wanted to escape my eyes sucked right back up there just as they should. After all I don’t usually look like a hot crying mess until the first look or ceremony.

As Marian walked down the winding path to meet Phil for their first look a few cyclists zoomed by. I love her facial expression – she stopped dead in her tracks and they flew by her and than started again. Rolling with the punches!

Stewart Creek Wedding ceremony

Before their breathtaking and quirky Stewart Creek Wedding ceremony we did 90% of their formals out deeper in the mountains. We adventured, laughed in the forest, found the Alberta version of FernGully and captured some wicked memories.

We headed to Stewart Creek for their ceremony and I can’t even explain how stunning the tent is at the golf course. The one side is all open to a backdrop of trees and the mountain range. During the ceremony a little wind blew in and Marian’s veil went a little cra cra but it looked amazing and is an amazing memory.

Her ring bearer is my favorite. He did such an amazing job and half way through the ceremony when he thought no one was watching pulled some funny faces. I LOVE the photo of him during the ceremony – I get such a kick out of it everytime I see it!

The rest of the evening was absolutely amazing. Stewart Creek Weddings are absolutely beautiful and Marian and Phil added their own touches to the day that made it super unique and beautiful! I loved how they set up the tables during the reception and had their cocktail hour out on the terrace. One word. Stunning!

Thanks Marian and Phil for being wicked and amazing!!! I had a blast shooting your Engagement session and Wedding at Stewart Creek!!! I hope you plaster your walls with photos of your special day and feel joy everytime you see them!

From the Bride and Groom

Wedding theme and colours //
Colours were gold, dusty rose/blush/pink, green, and white. I did DIY on everything possible, because I love doing decorative arts projects! I skimmed pinterest, watched a ton of youtube DIY videos, and then hit the dollar store and Lowe’s to make our vision a reality.

Guest list  // 96

Vibe // A decade of love.

Top 3 best moments  //
The ceremony – we walked down the aisle to our favourite songs (played by the very talented Alanna J. Brown), we wrote our own vows and it was incredibly meaningful and truly represented our relationship over the past 10 year, and the venue was stunning!

Walking in to our reception area for the first time and seeing it filled with all the people we love and who have supported us throughout the past 10 years and seeing all the details come together (especially our candy table!).

The speeches – were incredible, thoughtful, and hilarious, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have such amazing friends and family.

The cake! – we aren’t big cake people, so we opted for our favourite dessert – Dairy Queen ice cream cake and treatza pizzas (DQ even made us custom treatza pizza flavours!) and it was a hit!

Ceremony Wedding song //
“Grow Old With You” by Adam Sandler – The wedding singer was the first movie that Phil and I ever watched together, so it was the perfect song to start the ceremony off with.

“I Choose You by Sarah Bareilles” – One of Phil’s favourite songs.

“How Long Will I Love You” cover by Ellie Goulding – Our favourite song from one of our favourite movies, About Time (if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s probably the best rom-com out there!)

“Can’t Help Falling in Love with You” cover by Kina Granis – I love this song so much, I cry every time I hear it!
