Windy Pyramid Island Wedding in Jasper – Sarah Pukin

Alyssa and Matts Pyramid Island Wedding in Jasper
Pyramid Island Weddings in Japer are some of my absolute favourites! The island itself is stunning and is surrounded by Pyramid Lake – A absolute must see in Jasper, Alberta!
Wildfires in Jasper didn’t hold them back!
Unfortunately due to the wildfires in September Alyssa and Matt had to make a tough call to postpone a month as the fires were blazing the week before their wedding (funny story I was there photographing another wedding the weekend before their original date and all services were closed the day after the wedding I photographed – more on that story later!).
But because the wildfire was spreading they decided to postpone a month. So yes their summer +30 wedding turned into a windy winters day!
October is always unpredictable when it comes to Jasper – you might luck out and have the most beautiful fall colours with a warm day and sometimes you will have a full on blizzard.
Luckily for Alyssa and Matt they just has some crazy wind! (Made for some memorable moments during their ceremony).
The best part was minimal snow fall – so we could actually see all three mountains on their day: Pyramid Mountain, Mount Kinross, and Cairngorm Mountain!!
One of my favourite parts of their ceremony was the laughter! Alyssa has the most infectious smile – its big and absolutely beautiful. By the end of the day my cheeks hurt from smiling along side her!
Matt is a beautiful sole – teardrops rolled down his cheeks during the ceremony and I could really feel how much he loves Alyssa.
Intimate Wedding in Jasper
Matt and Alyssa chose to do an intimate ceremony at Pyramid Island in Jasper they had a big bash in Edmonton where they are from.
In the end they chose to postpone a month they ended up doing their big party first and ceremony second! Because of this I got that super cute shot of their guestbook at the ceremony! I love that they kept with the outdoors theme!
After the ceremony we took photos around the lake and a few bridal portraits before heading on the shuttle bus to a few different spots around Jasper. It was such a perfect day to photograph – amazing people, two super amazing people getting married, and full trust in my artistic vision!
Nothing could be better!
Words from the Couple
Wedding theme and colours: navy and desert rose “We knew Matt wanted to wear navy and the desert colour would look great with the mountains and with Matt’s colours. Also, we aimed for a fall wedding but turned out they looked great for winter too”
Guests: 35
Vibe: I wanted very casual and romantic, I wanted the day to be intimate and stress free
Your top 3 best moments: Seeing Matt at the end of the isle, seeing all of our friends bundled up watching us say I do, seeing my moms face when we were saying I do
Wedding song: Better together by Luke Combes. From the minute this song came on the radio we instantly knew it was our song. We sing every word to each other.
If you could own any animal as a pet what would it be and why? We already have the best dog in the world but I can see her with maybe a baby goat friend
Kind words:
“Sarah was truly a pleasure to work with. She kept us on a schedule but made sure we were having fun as we took photos. We are not the most confident people in front of the camera but she made it feel easy and carefree. Our pictures are everything and more and will cherish them for ever (even the ones where everyone looks like they are freezing their asses off) thanks for making our day so special! “
